Strike war eine britische Electronic-Dance-Band, die 1994 gegründet wurde und aus Matt Cantor (später von Freestylers), Andy Gardner (später von Plump DJs) und der Sängerin Victoria Newton bestand. Strike entstand gegen Ende des Jahres 1994. Eine zufällig spontane Gesangs-Session für Victoria Newton in den Studios von Fresh Records in Ladbroke Grove, brachte ihr die Rolle als Lead-Sängerin ein.

Strike entstand gegen Ende des Jahres 1994. Eine zufällige Gesangs-Session für Victoria Newton in den Studios von Fresh Records in Ladbroke Grove brachte ihr die Rolle als Leadsängerin ein.
Strikes erste Single, "Formula One", erreichte den unteren Bereich der britischen Top-100-Chart. Sie durchbrachen erst, als "U Sure Do" im Dezember 1994 veröffentlicht wurde, ursprünglich als Nummer 31 in der UK Singles Chart, um dann im April 1995 wieder in die Charts einzusteigen und bis zur Nummer 4 zu klettern wichtiger Clubschlag. Sie begannen dann, ausgiebig zu touren, traten in Fernsehprogrammen wie Top of the Pops und MTV auf und spielten vor einem Publikum von 70.000 Zuschauern. "U Sure Do" erreichte Chart-Erfolge in vielen Ländern und dies führte die Band nach Spanien, Italien, Dänemark, Norwegen, den Niederlanden, Deutschland und Japan.
Strike produzierte vier weitere UK Top 40 Hits und ein Album, das ich 1997 auf Fresh Records veröffentlichte. Sie tourten mit und unterstützten viele internationale Künstler wie die Backstreet Boys, Jocelyn Brown und die Spice Girls.
Victoria Newton erhielt einen Solo-Plattenvertrag mit Strikes Label Fresh. Im September 1999 debütierte sie mit "Martha's Harbour", einem Cover des "All About Eve" -Hits, mit Mixen von Mike Koglin und Blu. Obwohl es die UK Singles Chart nicht erreichte, war es ein Nr. 8 UK Club Hit und ein Liebling von DJ Paul Van Dyk.
Ein Soloalbum wurde aufgenommen und für Ende 1999 geplant, mit dem Titel Live for Today, das Release wurde aber abgesagt. In den 2000er Jahren wandte sich Newton dem Jazz und der lateinamerikanischen Musik zu und veröffentlichte 2003 ein Soloalbum mit Jazz und brasilianischer Musik mit dem Titel "The Song is You".
2006 wurden Remixe von "U Sure Do" veröffentlicht.
